Primary Purpose:

 

Provide students with appropriate assessment, identification, and educational placement. Maintain all special education records and documentation.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

Master’s degree in assessment (preferred)

Valid Texas teaching certificate

Valid Texas educational diagnostician certificate (preferred)

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of writing transition plans and IEPs

Ability to write BIPs and provide support to staff members working with students in special education

 

Performance Responsibilities:

Provide thorough evaluations in all areas of suspected disability, consult with parents and school staff regarding student needs, maintain accurate and organized records, follow all state and district procedures and timelines, demonstrate effective and positive communication skills with parents and staff.

Work with parents, campus staff, and evaluation personnel to address the individual transition needs for students in special education.

Write transition goals and IEPs.

Offer behavior suggestions and support to staff working with students who are in special education.

Write behavior intervention plans.

Monitor student behavior.
